ILOILO CITY -- Cops dispersed a group of protesters holding demonstrations outside Camp Delgado, the Western Visayas regional headquarters of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Iloilo City Saturday for slain activist Jory Porquia.

Bryan Bosque, deputy spokesperson of left-wing group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan-Panay), was giving a speech when cops dispersed them allegedly for not having a permit.

Around 30 members of Bayan and the allied groups of Gabriela, Anakpawis, Kabataan were outside Camp Delgado calling for speedy justice for Porquia’s death.

While there was no permit, Lucy Francisco of Gabriela claimed that there was an initial talk with the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) regarding the activists plan to hold a protest action.

Porquia was gunned down early morning of April 30, 2020 at a coastal area in Arevalo district.

Activists claimed that Porquia’s killing was done by government forces, which both the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and PNP denied.

"It seems like the PNP is hiding skeletons inside the regional headquarters, but their stench can be smelled miles away," said Bosque in a statement.

"Instead of harassing and targeting activists, the PNP should focus all its resources in finding and arresting those who killed Jory Porquia," added Francisco.
