Barangay chairman shot to death in City of San Fernando

PAMPANGA – A barangay chairman who was a candidate for city councilor was shot dead by two unidentified gunmen in Brgy. Maglinam, City of San Fernando on Saturday morning, April 30.

The police identified the victim as Alvin Mendoza.

Police Regional Office 3 Regional director Brig. General Matthew Baccay readily condemned the murder of the barangay chairman as he ordered a thorough probe on the case.

“I have ordered an in-depth probe on this incident and we are looking into all angles to establish possible motives,” said Brig. Gen. Baccay.

“We are exerting all means to get to the bottom of this unfortunate incident and we are now in the process of gathering pieces of evidence that will lead us to the identification of the culprit/s,” added Baccay.

Baccay also assured the public, as well as the victim's family, of their total commitment to ensure immediate resolution of the case through proper investigation.

Mendoza was in his car and was on his way to Brgy. Maglinam when the suspects on board a motorcycle attacked him along Purok 3 in the same barangay.

Mendoza was rushed to the San Fernando Hospital for medical treatment but was declared dead on arrival, police said.

Baccay said that while he gives importance to all cases, this particular incident will be treated as top priority since a local official is involved.

“We continue to solicit public support.
