Shear line, ITCZ bring scattered rains over N. Luzon, VisMin

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will affect Visayas and Mindanao and parts of northern Luzon in the next 24 hours because of the prevalence of shear line and intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, April 3.
The shear line will affect Cagayan Valley, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte, while the ITCZ will prevail over Masbate, Sorsogon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
PAGASA advised those in these areas to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides due to the occurrence of moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will continue to experience hot and humid weather due to the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.
Partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country, but PAGASA warned against possible flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.
Weather specialist Benison Estareja said PAGASA also continues to monitor a low pressure area (LPA) that was estimated at 1,780 kilometers east of Mindanao on Sunday morning.
He noted that the LPA still has a slim chance of developing into a tropical depression as of Sunday.
Estareja said the LPA may enter the Philippine area of responsibility on Monday, April 4, and cross Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan from Tuesday to Thursday, April 5 to 7.
