Robredo supporters step up house-to-house campaign
Taking the cue from her brand of leadership, supporters or “kakampinks” of Vice President Leni Robredo have started going from one house to another to personally campaign for her even in the country’s farthest and smallest communities.
One of them is Sitio Maningcao Dako in Sibulan, Negros Oriental, where Robredo’s sister-in-law Penny Bundoc, actress Pinky Amador, and other volunteers held a house-to-house campaign to convince more Filipinos to vote for the lone female presidential bet.
Some 10,000 Robredo supporters, comprised of the Vice President’s family, local celebrities, and ordinary citizens, kicked off the face-to-face campaign drive this weekend to reach out to voters who can’t attend their grand rallies nationwide.
They are also shifting to this kind of campaign because they believe thousands of Filipinos still lack access to vital information about the candidates running for office.
Senior citizens from Sitio Maningcao Dako said they had fun because they are seldom visited by candidates during the campaign period.
“Natutuwa ako dahil sa tinagal-tagal ng panahon, ngayon lang may dumalaw rito at nangampanya. Bihirang pumunta ang mga pulitiko dito dahil sa layo ng lugar (I’m happy because for the longest time, it is only now that someone visits us here and campaign. Politicians seldom go here because the place is far),” one of them said.

Citing their old age and physical condition, another elderly shared they no longer need to attend campaign rallies to listen to the candidates’ plans and programs.
“Pakiramdam namin ay napaka-special namin dahil sinadya kami ng mga supporter ng Bise Presidente at nagkuwento tungkol sa kanya at sa kanyang mga nagawa (We feel very special because the supporters of Vice President intentionally visited us and told us stories about her and her achievements),” she added.
They also relayed their concerns and needs to Dr. Bundoc and Amador, who promised to bring it to the attention of Robredo.
Volunteers distributed reading materials and talked to residents about Robredo’s track record, accomplishments, and platform of government.
Robredo is running for president in the upcoming May elections on her platform of improving the lives of people even in far-flung areas. Her “Oplan Angat Agad” platform is focused on employment, health and education.
With 37 days left before the elections, Robredo supporters and volunteers from 74 provinces and 34 cities are doing the house-to-house campaign to encourage the public to choose her, her running mate Sen. Kiko Pangilinan, and their entire senatorial slate.
Apart from Amador, other celebrities who personally campaigned for Team Leni-Kiko are actresses Marjorie Barretto, Agot Isidro, Angel Locsin, and actor Donny Pangilinan, nephew of the vice-presidential bet.
Robredo’s daughters Aika and Tricia, as well as niece Gaile Vitas, Donny’s sisters Hannah and Ella also joined the volunteers in the campaign.
“Salamat sa pakikiisa! Favorite ko kahapon, ang dami naming nadaanan na (Thanks for joining! My favorite yesterday, we passed through many) small groups na naka-pink na may kanya-kanyang (in pink that have respective) house to house . 'Yong iba (The others are) stickering naman sa mga ng (in the) tricycle. Nakaka-inspire kayong lahat (you’re all inspiring),” Aika tweeted.
“Araw-arawin na natin hanggang Mayo, ipanalo na natin 'to (Let us do it everyday until May, let us win this)!” she added.
