Additional K-pop stars have tested positive while others have recovered from Covid-19 as South Korea continues to battle the spread of the highly contagious Omicron variant although daily numbers have gone down in the last few days.

Girl group Red Velvet member Wendy tested positive for Covid-19 on April 2, according to agency SM Entertainment.

Wendy is fully vaccinated and got her booster shot “and she is currently showing no symptoms.” She immediately stopped all her schedules and is self-isolating according to the guidelines of health authorities. As a result, her radio broadcast and fan signing events were canceled.

She is the last member of Red Velvet to be diagnosed with Covid-19. Last March 30, Seulgi tested positive while Irene, Joy and Yeri were diagnosed with the disease on March 14.

Meanwhile, on April 1, agency FNC Entertainment announced that K-pop boy band SF9 member Taeyang “tested positive as a result of a preemptive self-test kit with symptoms of a sore throat last night.

“Therefore, a PCR test was performed this morning and the final result was positive. Currently, Yoo Taeyang has only mild symptoms of a sore throat, and will be self-isolated and given necessary measures in accordance with the guidelines of the quarantine authorities, and will focus on adequate rest and treatment,” the agency said.

On the other hand, K-pop stars who earlier tested positive for Covid-19 have fully recovered.

Former NU’EST member Baekho “has made a full recovery from COVID-19 and his quarantine has concluded as of today ,” according to Pledis Entertainment. He tested positive last March 26.

“Baekho (Kang Dong Ho) has been administering self-treatment at home as per health authority guidelines and has not shown any extraordinary symptoms. As his quarantine has concluded, he can resume his activities starting from today,” the agency said.

Pledis Entertainment also announced that Fromis 9 members Lee Nagyung and Song Hayoung have fully recovered from the disease.

On April 3, the agency said, “We would like to inform you that fromis_9 member Lee Nagyung has made a full recovery from Covid-19 and her quarantine has concluded as of today.”

“Lee Nagyung has been administering self-treatment at home as per health authority guidelines and has not shown any extraordinary symptoms. As her quarantine has concluded, she can resume her activities starting from today,” it said.

Song Hayoung recovered on April 2 “and her quarantine has concluded as of today,” according to Pledis.

“Song Hayoung has been administering self-treatment at home as per health authority guidelines and has not shown any extraordinary symptoms. As her quarantine has concluded, she can resume her activities starting from today,” it said.

In addition, Brave Entertainment announced on April 3 that boy band DKB members E-Chan, D1, GK and Lune have recovered from Covid-19.

“We would like to inform you that E-Chan, D1, GK and Lune of DKB met the quarantine release standards and were released from quarantine as of midnight on April 3. E-Chan, D1, GK and Lune took sufficient rest during their at-home treatment period and focused on recovering their health, and following the quarantine authorities' measures to lift quarantine, daily activities are now possible,” it said.

South Korea’s daily new Covid-19 cases have gone down in the last four days. On April 3, South Korea recorded 234,301 new cases, down from 264,171 on April 2.
