DOH encourages Covid-19 vax sites to continue operations during Holy Week
The Department of Health (DOH) encouraged the different Covid-19 vaccination sites in the country to continue their operations during the Holy Week in order to provide protection to more people against the disease.

Health Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje said they will be issuing a memorandum to the various DOH hospitals–which is to encourage them to continue their vaccination activities during the Holy Week.
“We would like the vaccination centers to be open kaya magre-request tayo/ mag-issue ang Department of Health sa ating DOH hospitals and i-enjoin ang mga private hospitals and non-DOH hospitals na kung pwede sila rin ang magbakuna (that is why we will issue or request to our DOH hospitals and enjoin the private hospitals and non-DOH hospitals if they can do vaccination),” said Cabotaje during a radio interview on Sunday, April 3.
Cabotaje said it also depends on the local government units (LGUs) if their vaccination sites will operate during the Holy Week.
Church activities
Meanwhile, DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire urged church leaders to avoid activities that can increase the risk of transmitting the Covid-19 virus.
“Nakikiusap din po tayo sa ating mga churches, kung sakali po, baka puwede po tayong makipagtulungan sa kanila na iwasan muna po natin iyong mga (We are also asking the churches to avoid) activities that can have increased risk of transmitting infection to our citizens,” said Vergeire during the recent Malacanang briefing.
Vergeire made the appeal after the Quiapo Church decided to allow again the traditional “Pahalik” for the devotees of the Black Nazarene.
The Health official urged those who touch religious images to wash their hands and avoid touching their nose and mouth.
"Kung anuman po iyong mga advisories natin dati, iyon pa rin po ang advice ng Kagawaran ng Kalusugan. Alam po natin kung paano nata-transmit ang impeksyon (Whatever our previous advisories are, that's still the advice of the Department of Health. We know how the infection is being transmitted)," she said.
"Patuloy po nating ipatupad ang (We should continue to implement the) minimum public health standards," she added.
