Muntinlupa LGU pushes for vaccination, calls for strict adherence to health protocols
The Muntinlupa City government reminded the public to follow health protocols and get vaccinated after the Department of Health (DOH) announced the detection in the country of the first case of the more contagious BA.2.12 Omicron sub-variant.
According to the City Health Office, it will continue to reinforce the implementation of health protocols including the wearing of face masks.

It continues to vaccinate people with the first and second doses, and first and second booster shots.
The DOH announced on April 27 that its Center for Health Development (CHD) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) detected the first case of the Omicron-BA.2.12, which it said is more contagious based on initial findings and data.
The country’s first case of the Omicron-BA.2.12 is a 52-year-old Finnish female who arrived on April 2. She went to a university in Quezon City and then to Baguio to hold seminars.
“Nine days after her arrival in the country, she experienced mild symptoms such as headache and sore throat. She then tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 via Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) the next day. Upon detection of this confirmed COVID-19 case, the local epidemiology and surveillance unit (LESU) performed contact tracing,” the DOH said.
It said the patient finished her seven-day isolation and has recovered and was discharged. The patient returned to Finland on April 21.
The DOH urged people to get their booster shots “as immunity is proven to wane over time.”
As of April 28, Muntinlupa only has four active cases with all nine barangays registering zero new Covid-19 cases.
The four active cases are in Barangays Tunasan, Alabang, and Cupang while the remaining six barangays are now Covid-19-free.
Since 2020, Muntinlupa has recorded 39,950 confirmed cases, 39,332 recoveries, and 614 deaths from Covid-19.
As of April 28, the Muntinlupa City government has administered the second booster shot to 64 immunocompromised individuals. It was earlier estimated that there were 10,000 immunocompromised individuals registered in the country.
In addition, 129,419 individuals have received their first booster shot or 29.23 percent of Muntinlupa’s target population of 442,517.
A total of 493,568 people are fully vaccinated, or 111.544 percent of the target population.
