James Corden to leave 'The Late Late Show' next year

British host James Corden will be leaving "The Late Late Show" after signing a one-year extension to his contract. The host will bid goodbye to the show in the summer of 2023.

After replacing Craig Ferguson in 2015, Corden has made The Late Late Show into a whole new genre of late-night programming.

Corden is known for the iconic Carpool Karaoke, where he features well-known personalities such as Adele, BTS, Justine Bieber, Britney Spears, and even the former first lady Michelle Obama.

"It's been it's a really hard decision to leave because I'm so immensely proud of the show," Corden said during his interview with deadline.com.

James also added, "My bosses here at CBS have been incredibly supportive and extraordinary patient with me while I made this decision."

Aside from hosting, Corden also made a name on the Hollywood light. Appearing in the movies Cats, The Prom, Into The Woods, and Cinderella. James Corden showed that he is more than just a TV host.

"James has truly reimagined many elements of the Late night format," CBS President and CEO George Cheeks said in a statement.

Cheeks noted that he wished that Corden could stay longer, but he was proud that the British started making CBS his American home. (Carissa Alcantara)
