For Arroyo-led Pampanga execs, Marcos is 'next PH president'

SAN FERNANDO CITY, Pampanga--In what can be described as her most explicit endorsement yet, former President and House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo introduced Bongbong Marcos to the huge crowd here as "the next president of the Republic of the Philippines".

This took place during the UniTeam grand rally Friday night, April 29 at the Robinsons Grounds here, where tens of thousands of Marcos and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte supporters attended.

Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) standard-bearer Marcos was the last candidate to address the crowd--as usual--and distinguished native Arroyo was given the honor of introducing him.

"Sa ngalan ni Governor Delta Pineda, sa ngalan ni Vice Governor Nanay Baby Pineda, sa ngalan ng apat na congressmen ng Pampanga, sa ngalan ng 20 mayor ng Pampanga, eto na po ang susunod na pangulo ng Republika ng Pilipinas, Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. (On behalf of Governor Delta Pineda, on behalf of Vice Governor Nanay Baby Pineda, on behalf of the four congressmen of Pampang behalf of the 20 mayors of Pampanga, here is the next president of the Republic of the Philippines, Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.)," Arroyo said, followed by thunderous applause.

Vice presidential candidate and Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) Chairperson Duterte is Marcos's running mate. They call themselves the UniTeam, and have their own Senate slate.

Arroyo is also a Lakas-CMD stalwart and a known figurehead of the party.

The last time the UniTeam bets came to Pampanga was during Arroyo's advance 75th birthday celebration last April 4. A rally was held in the town of Mexico that day, but of the UniTeam duo, only Duterte was present.

During the April 4 rally, the former president gave a clear-cut endorsement of Duterte, while only suggesting that she supported Marcos's Palace bid.

However, there were zero doubts Friday, as a smiling Arroyo shared the stage with the survey-leading Marcos.

Arroyo is eyeing a return to the House of Representatives in the elections, which will take place on May 9.
