Briones asks DepEd personnel, registered voters to 'vote based on their conscience'
Education Secretary Leonor Briones urged the personnel of the Department of Education (DepEd) as well as the learners who are registered voters to use their conscience when voting for the country’s next leaders in the upcoming elections.

“I am encouraging all our personnel and learners who are registered voters to actively participate in the National and Local Elections this coming May 9 and vote based on their conscience,” Briones said in a statement issued Friday, April 29.
“This will also help us achieve a better future for the learners,” Briones added.
Meanwhile, DepEd assured support for around 647,812 DepEd personnel who will render their services on election day.

DepEd Election Task Force (ETF) head and Director IV Marcelo Bragado, Jr. said that the agency is coordinating with concerned agencies to ensure the safety of the agency’s personnel while on poll duty.
“Tayo rin po ay may mga pagpupulong na pinuntahan kasama ng Comelec para po pag-usapan ang lahat ng mga benepisyo para sa ikagaganda ng eleksyon na ito, para sa ating mga guro, at mga kawani ng Kagawaran (We also have meetings with the Comelec to discuss all the benefits for the betterment of this election, for our teachers, and the staff of the department),” he added.
Moreover, the DepEd also ensured the agency’s active participation in the Comelec Advisory Council (CAC).
Bragado reported that there would be 106,439 clustered precincts from 37,219 polling centers (schools) nationwide.
Likewise, DepEd ETF Operation and Monitoring Center will also be established in the DepEd Central Office (Bulwagan ng Karunungan) starting 1 p.m. of May 8 until 5 p.m. of May 10.
The center will ensure close coordination and consultation between Comelec, DepEd, and its field offices.
“Legal, technical, and other assistance will be given to teachers on issues, concerns, and problems that may arise before, during, and after the May 9 NLE and coordination with other government agencies,” DepEd said.
