Vice Ganda's message to trolls: 'ABS-CBN is no longer after any franchise'

TV host-comedian Vice Ganda recently cleared notion about celebrities pushing for the renewal of ABS-CBN's franchise.

In an episode of "It’s Showtime," the host said: “Linawin lang natin, ha. Kasi ang daming nagsasabi, itong mga artistang ‘to, may mga ginagawa sila dahil ang tanging pakay nila ay para maibalik ang prangkisa."

“Para lang sa kaalaman ho ng nakararami, wala na ho kaming inaasahang prangkisa, dahil ‘yung dati naming prangkisa, meron na hong nagmamay-ari nu’n... Wala na po kaming hinahabol na dating prangkisa, dahil ang prangkisa namin ay may nagmamay-ari na, at pagmamay-arian nila ‘yan ng ilang dekada."

Recall that early this year, Manny Villar's company, Advanced Media Broadcasting Systems, took over the television broadcast frequencies previously used by ABS-CBN.

“Wala na pong mahahabol ang ABS-CBN,” Vice reiterated.

He also pointed out that the network hasn't applied for a new franchise.

“Wala na pong in-apply na franchise ang ABS-CBN, wala po. Kaya wala po kaming hinahabol na franchise. So, malinaw yan ha! Dun sa mga shunga-shungaan na mga troll... Hindi na naman mahahabol ‘yun,” he said, reiterating: "ABS-CBN is no longer after any franchise. Okay? Ganun yun!”

“Kasi lagi kong naririnig, ‘Naku, si ganiyan, kaya ganiyan, kasi sa franchise, kasi ganiyan, kasi umaasa sila.’ Wala na po kaming... wala ng inaasahan. Tapos na po ‘yung chapter na yun, yung kabanatang ‘yun. Tapos na. Ganun yun! Mga di niyo alam pinagsasabi niyo. Move on, move on!”

Vice assured network employees who lost their jobs will be able to have new opportunities again.

“Pero puwede pang manumbalik ang mga trabaho, di ba? Kasi ngayon, ang ABS-CBN ay nag-po-produce o lumilikha ng maraming content na maaaring ipalabas sa maraming plataporma. Mas maraming content, mas maraming trabaho. Kaya ang ABS-CBN ay unti-unti na namang nagbubukas ng mga oportunidad. Ganun yun!,” he proudly shared, adding the partnership of ABS-CBN to different online platforms as well as TV networks like GMA and TV5.
