CATANAUAN, Quezon—Vice President Leni Robredo on Thursday, April 28, said that her team would prefer to stick with 11 candidates in its senatorial slate, and would not replace reelectionist Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri.

Robredo said she is aware that some groups and supporters are pushing for certain people, like former Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares, to be included in her ticket.
“Actually, maraming mga nagpu-push ng iba-ibang pangalan. 'Yung kahapon na-update sa akin parang ang desisyon, hindi na lalagyan ng kapalit (many are pushing different names. Yesterday, I was updated that the decision is not to put a replacement anymore),” Robredo said in a media interview after her mini rally here.
“We'll let the voters decide kung sino 'yung idadagdag nilang kapalit kasi marami yata 'yung naka-pila na pagpipilian (who they want to add as replacement because there are a lot of choices),” she added.
Aside from Colmenares, groups have been pushing for the inclusion of labor leader Elmer Labog and former Makati Rep. Monsour del Rosario.
The aspiring president lamented that there was no more time to vet candidates since her focus is on the campaign.
“So, ako basta sa akin, ang pakiusap ko na lang sa kanila, kayo na mag desisyon basta ako (My plea to them is they decide. For me), all my waking hours, nasa kampanya na ako (I’m in the campaign),” she said.
The Vice President explained that she relied on her team’s decision regarding the decision to remove Zubiri from her senatorial ticket after he officially raised the hand of her rival, former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. during his campaign rally in Malaybalay, Bukidnon last month.

Her only instruction to them is to follow the process on how they vetted the 12 candidates.
“Pero ako kasi, 'yung focus ko na talaga itong kampanya kasi 12 days na lang (But for me, my focus really is the campaign because there’s only 12 days),” Robredo said.
The reelectionist senator first called Marcos “our president” on March 31 and raised his hand with his father, Gov. Jose Maria Zubiri, during Marcos’ Malaybalay, Bukidnon rally.
Bukidnon is the hometown and bailiwick of the Zubiris.
Zubiri is a guest candidate in the Marcos-Duterte, Pacquiao-Atienza, Lacson-Sotto, and Robredo-Pangilinan tickets. But under the terms, he should not openly endorse any presidential bet.
His apparent endorsement of Marcos pushed Senator Panfilo Lacson and Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III to drop him from the ticket.
Pacquiao has yet to drop him from his ticket.
Zubiri is one of the adopted senatorial candidates in the Robredo-Pangilinan slate, along with former Vice President Jejomar Binay, Sorsogon Gov. Francis “Chiz” Escudero, reelectionist Senators Joel Villanueva and Richard Gordon.
The Leni-Kiko senatorial slate also includes former Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat Jr., incumbent Senators Leila de Lima and Risa Hontiveros, human rights lawyer Manuel “Chel” Diokno, labor leader Sonny Matula, former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, and book author Alex Lacson.
