In Lucena, Robredo cracks jokes with crowd: 'You're in a hurry to bring me to Malacañang'

LUCENA CITY, Quezon—Vice President Leni Robredo had a friendly banter with her supporters here on Thursday, April 28, after she joked with them about possibly winning on May 9.

As her supporters in this City cheered her while on stage, the Vice President asked if she can first finish her speech.

Robredo then teased some supporters near the stage that they should know first her plans and programs once she gets elected president.

“Uupo na tuloy ako sa Malacañang. Nagmamadali kasi kayo ihatid ako (Now, I have to be in Malacañang. It's because you’re all in a hurry to bring me there),” Robredo told the crowd in jest.

Turning serious, the lone female presidential candidate stressed that there are 11 more days before Election Day and she and her kakampinks need to work extra hard.

“Meron pa tayo (We still have) 11 days. We are still going to work,” she said.

“Hindi pa po tayo panalo. Kailangan pa po natin magpagod (We haven’t won yet. We still need to work),” Robredo added.

And by working hard, that means traveling from Catanauan for a multi-sectoral assembly in the morning and to Gumaca then to Guinayangan for a people’s rally there before attending the “Quezonduan: Grand People’s Rally” at the Lucena City Government Complex.

During her visit to Guinayangan, Robredo took the time to thank her supporters because “Guinayangan po ang nagbigay sa akin ng pinakamalaking (gave me the biggest) percentage of votes” during the 2016 vice-presidential race.

She was hoping her visit there will be a lucky charm once more after the town mayor told her that candidates who visit Guinayangan end up winning.

“Meron na ba ditong ibang pumunta? Sana wala na ano (Is there anyone else who went here? Hope there’s no one else)?,” Robredo said.

She told the crowd there that what’s wrong with most politicians is they don’t want to visit far-flung areas because there aren’t many voters there.

“Mali 'yun kasi pag ako naging pangulo, dapat walang maliit, walang malayo. Lahat na mga lugar na nangangailangan ng tulong galing sa gobyerno, kailangan pinupuntahan di ba (That’s wrong because if I become president, there should be no small, no far. All places that need help from the government, need to be visited right)?” Robredo said.
