BOC turns over nearly P5-M worth of seized illegal drugs to PDEA

The Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Port of Clark turned over a total of P4,850,440 worth of shabu, high grade marijuana (kush) and other illegal substances to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 3 Office in San Fernando, Pampanga.
In a statement, the PDEA Region 3 Office said it received one parcel containing more or less 500 grams of shabu and three parcels with an estimated 1,200 grams of kush from representatives of the BOC.
The chief of the PDEA Airport Interdiction Unit (AIU) explained that the dangerous drugs will be under its custody pending a destruction order based on the Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the “The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.’’
In implementing the provisions of Section 21 of RA 9165, PDEA shall take charge and have custody of all dangerous drugs, plant sources of dangerous drugs, controlled precursors and essential chemicals, as well as instruments/paraphernalia and/or laboratory equipment so confiscated, seized and/or surrendered, for proper disposition.
A certification or chemistry report of the forensic laboratory examination results, which shall be done by the forensic examiner, shall be issued immediately upon the receipt of the subject item/s within the reglementary period that would enable the apprehending officer/team to file the criminal charge/s with the prosecutor’s office against the violator/s as prescribed by law.
