The Muntinlupa City government started administering the second booster shot for immunocompromised people on April 26.

In two days, 45 people belonging to the group got their booster shots in the city, 14 of them on the first day on April 26 and 31 on the second day on April 27.

There are about 10,000 people listed as immunocompromised in the country, said National Task Force Against Covid-19 Medical Adviser Dr. Ted Herbosa during the “Laging Handa" public briefing on April 27.
He said less than 1,000 immunocompromised individuals have received the second booster shot in the country.
The Department of Health (DOH) announced that immunocompromised individuals will be the first to get the second booster shot to be followed by frontline healthcare workers and senior citizens.
“People who are immunocompromised have a reduced ability to fight infections and other diseases,” according to the US National Cancer Institute.
Under a DOH memorandum, immunocompromised individuals are classified as those with immunodeficiency state, HIV, active cancer or malignancy, transplant recipients, undergoing steroid treatment, patients with poor prognosis / bed-ridden patients, and other conditions of immunodeficiency as certified by a doctor.
The vaccine brands to be used for the second booster shot are Pfizer, Moderna, Sinovac, Sinopharm and AstraZeneca.
Herbosa said within the week, the Vaccine Expert Panel will approve the giving of the second booster shot to the A1 priority group (healthcare workers) and A2 (senior citizens).
