Scattered rains, thunderstorms over VisMin, parts of S. Luzon due to LPA, ITCZ

A low pressure area (LPA) and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Visayas, Mindanao, and parts of southern Luzon in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday afternoon, April 27.
As of 3 p.m., the LPA that is embedded along the ITCZ was estimated at 180 kilometers south-southeast of Zamboanga City.
PAGASA said the weather disturbance is less likely to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours but may bring significant rains over Romblon, Palawan, Bicol region, Visayas, and Mindanao.
It warned those in these areas to stay vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides due to the occurrence of moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.
PAGASA also advised the public to stay vigilant during severe thunderstorms, which are often associated with bursts of heavy rainfall, lightning, thunder, and gusty winds that usually last up to two hours, as these may trigger flash floods or landslides.
