Tricia Robredo follows sister in seeking NBI help over fake video scandal

Another daughter of Vice President Leni Robredo asked assistance from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for the spread of the lewd sex videos allegedly featuring her on various internet sites.

Dr. Janine Patricia “Tricia” Robredo, the second daughter of the Vice President and the late Interior secretary Jesse Robredo, sought the bureau’s help to determine the possible cybercrimes committed against her.

In a letter dated April 21, 2022, Dr. Robredo’s legal counsel Pinky Bernabe said that the mere use of her name on these online posts is tantamount to gender-based online sexual harassment under Republic Act No. 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act.

Bernabe cited that Section 3(e) and Section 12 of the Safe Spaces Act “contemplate unwanted sexual remarks and comments online as gender-based online sexual harassment.”

“Whether or not there is an actual video is not even relevant,” it added.

“Our client is never one to seek special treatment. We hope the NBI would identify the perpetrator/s behind these posts,” the lawyer said.

Dr. Robredo’s letter came three days after older sister Aika requested the NBI to investigate similar fabricated sex videos claiming to be her. These videos were posted on blogs, porn sites, and social media platforms before the Holy Week break.

Although she is busy helping her mother’s presidential bid by going on a house-to-house campaign in various municipalities, Dr. Robredo said that “if these perpetrators are not unmasked and prosecuted before the courts, other persons might be subjected to the same vicious and criminal acts.”

She wants the NBI to help identify who posted it first, the username(s) and/or account(s), the sites or links and the IP addresses, and the identities of the perpetrators so they can file appropriate charges.

Robredo’s daughter also attached a preliminary list of links that the NBI may find useful in its investigation and eventual prosecution of those involved.

This is not the first time the Vice President’s daughters have been subjected to fake news and bashing.

While Aika was studying at the Harvard University, she was falsely rumored to be arrested by authorities in New York City.

The Vice President, while focused on her campaign, had said she’s letting their lawyers decide on the appropriate legal actions against the people behind these malicious posts.
