QCPD chief receives award from Congress for role in anti-drugs drive

The House of Representatives presented on Monday, April 25, the Congressional Award for Outstanding Achievement to Police Brig. Gen. Remus Medina, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, for his role in the intensified campaign against illegal drugs.

The award was given to the police chief by Rep. Jorge Bustos, Committee of Public Order and Safety vice-chairperson, at the House of Representatives in Quezon City.

“Ang parangal na ito ay naging possible dahil sa mga taong naging parte ng tagumpay na ito. Kung kaya’t lubos akong nagpapasalamat sa aking mga boss at senior officers na nagtiwala at humubog sa aking kakayahan, determinasyon at integridad upang sugpuin ang paglaganap ng pinagbabawal na droga sa ating komunidad (This award became possible because of the people who were part of this success. That’s why I am very grateful to my bosses and senior officers who trusted and shaped my ability, determination and integrity in order to fight the proliferation of illegal drugs in our community),” Medina said.

Medina is the former director of the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG).

The police chief also expressed gratitude to his friends from different government agencies and all those who helped in the campaign against illegal drugs.

“The efforts and workforce of my unit made me become worthy and suitable for this award,” Medina said.

Lt. Col. Glenn Gonzales, QCPD Fairview Station (PS 5) commander and former District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) chief, was also given the same award.

Police said the awards will boost the morale of all the QCPD personnel in doing their sworn duties and responsibilities.
