PH Consul to HK thanks Marissa Del Mar's OFW Party

The Philippine consulate general in Hong Kong extended his thanks to OFW (One Filipinos Worldwide) Party First nominee Marissa Magsino, popularly known for her screen name as Marissa del Mar, for caring for 217,000 overseas Filipino workers on China's administrative island.
In an official letter, Consul General Raly L. Tejada assured the OFW Party that only 226 of the 314 OFWs down with COVID are still under medical isolation. Although there is a fresh wave of infections on the island, Tejada says there is no need for mass repatriation. Tejada reported that only 314 OFWs are said to have contracted the deadly Covid-19 virus, but the numbers are going down.
"While the rate of infection in Hong Kong remains high at 30,000 cases per day, the situation is now stable with appropriate medical facilities and isolation centers readily available to its citizens and other residents," says Tejada, an experienced diplomat who began his diplomatic career in 1995.

The former actress announced earlier that her organization, together with Filipino Chinese philanthropist Dr. James Dy is ready to repatriate sick OFWs through a chartered plane.
Dy gave the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) a total of P2 million as a donation to enable the government to expatriate OFWs who want to go home and be treated here in the Philippines.
Del Mar and Dr. Dy of the Chinese General Hospital have been helping OFWs in Hong Kong for the past 20 years.

"We commend our Consul General to Hong Kong Raly Tejada for actively monitoring cases of OFWs now sick with COVID-19. Families of Hong Kong-based OFWs will now sleep soundly knowing that their patriotic loved ones are safe and healthy," says del Mar.
Meanwhile, Paul Cortez, Assistant Secretary of the Office of Migrant Workers, told the OFW party Marissa del Mar denies early reports of OFWs being dismissed by their employers after contracting COVID-19.
"The Hong Kong Secretary of Labor and Welfare assures the government's full support in protecting Filipino Household Service Workers. Furthermore, Hong Kong government does not tolerate any illegal dismissal of HSWs who suffer from COVID-19, which is against HK's Employment ordinance," Cortez wrote.
