DFA assures it's closely monitoring situation of Filipinos in Israel amid tensions
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) assured that they are closely monitoring the situation of Filipinos in Israel amid the tension in some areas in the foreign country.

"The Department is monitoring developments in the concerned areas," the DFA said in a statement on Tuesday, April 26.
"The Department is closely coordinating with the Philippine Embassies in Tel Aviv and in Amman to be updated on the security situation in these areas, as well as the safety of Filipinos living in Israel, the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank," it added.
Filipinos in the foreign land were told last week to avoid going to the West Bank and to some particular places in Jerusalem until May 3.
They are advised to postpone their trips or avoid Temple Mount, Damascus Gate, Herod's Gate, Al Wad Road, Musrara Road, and the vicinity of East Jerusalem due to the rising tensions in these areas.
Overseas Filipinos were also told to refrain from going to Golan Heights and places near the borders of Lebanon and Gaza.
Once gunshots are heard or tensions start escalating, Filipinos are told to immediately leave the area.
"Do not take pictures or videos or meddle with the tension or violence happening on the site because these are dangerous," the Philippine Embassy in Israel said in Filipino.
Filipinos are also told to avoid going to crowded areas and tourist or gathering sites. They are likewise advised to monitor the situation from reliable sources.
"Be careful when taking public transportation vehicles, and while waiting at the bus stop, stand behind the metal or cement barriers and stay away from the crowd of waiting passengers," the embassy further said.
"Do not go near Israeli security forces positioned in high-risk areas," it added.
Filipinos were reminded to always follow the advice of Israel security forces and the Israel Home Front Command and reach out to authorities and the embassy if they need help.
