Former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is looking at Metro Manila as one of the “important” regions where Vice President Leni Robredo must secure votes to win the presidency in next month’s polls.

Speaking during the weekly radio show of Robredo over dzXL, Trillanes cited their internal survey that showed the Vice President is getting close to the frontrunner.
Former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is still the leading presidential candidate based on various pre-elections surveys as of March.
“Dito po sa survey natin, dito po sa NCR (National Capital Region), dumidikit na po ang laban (Here in our survey, here in NCR, the fight is getting close),” Trillanes said on Sunday, April 24.
“Kaya nga na mention ko kagabi, importanteng makuha ni VP Leni ang Metro Manila para mag tuloy siya sa tagumpay sa Mayo (That’s why I mentioned last night, it is important that VP Leni gets Metro Manila so it would lead to her victory in May),” he added.
Trillanes, who is running again for senator under Robredo’s slate, revealed there were four cities, which he described as “strong areas” for the Vice President in NCR.
The Magdalo leader, however, did not identify these cities. He only said that Robredo is catching up in other areas in Metro Manila.
“Kaya 'yan ang kailangan po nating tutukan (That’s what we need to focus on),” Trillanes stressed.

Apart from Metro Manila, the former senator noted Robredo is also trailing behind the survey frontrunner in Mindanao, but said she is catching up in voter preference.
“Dito po sa (Here in) Southern Luzon, to include Bicol, lamang po si Leni (Leni is leading),” he said.
Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Mindoro, Rizal, and Quezon, among others, comprise Southern Luzon, while Bicol is the home region or bailiwick of the Vice President.
In Central Luzon and the Visayas, Trillanes said the presidential race between Robredo and the frontrunner is tied.
He cited the nationwide house-to-house campaign being conducted by volunteers is an “effective” tool to boost Robredo’s win in the May 9 elections.
Meanwhile, Trillanes reiterated under the Robredo presidency, post-Covid recovery programs will be implemented to reinvigorate the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and provide financial aid for those most affected by the pandemic.
“Kung tayo ay palaring maging senador muli, at kung maging presidente si VP Leni, ang unang ipapasa ko ay yung kanyang (If I’ll be fortunate to become a senator once again and VP Leni will be elected president, the first one I’ll pass is her) post-Covid economic recovery program,” Trillanes said.

"Yan po ang (That is the) marching orders doon sa buong (to the entire) Senate slate ni (of) VP Leni. Kasi (Because) within the first 100 days, kailangan natin itong ipasa lalo na ‘yung ating ekonomiya ay nasa (we have to pass this especially our economy is in) critical condition,” he said.
Among the measures the would be implemented are: unemployment insurance, financial aid to small businesses, and an expanded cash aid program or “ayuda” for poor families.
Unemployment insurance is one of the big-ticket programs of Robredo’s “Hanapbuhay Para sa Lahat (Jobs for All)” project that she unveiled earlier this year.
