Malacañang on Monday said it found "unfortunate" the Commission on Elections' (Comelec's) move to turn into a pre-taped interview the earlier scheduled presidential and vice presidential town hall debate.
Nevertheless, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said the Palace still recognized the panel interview set by the poll body, now in partnership with the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas.
" is a welcome opportunity for candidates to explain their intention and agenda to the Filipino electorate," Andanar said.
Palace asserted that informing and educating the public about the candidates vying for the presidency and the vice presidency in whatever platform "is crucial in a vibrant democracy such as the Philippines."
"The Filipino people deserve no less," Andanar added.
