Binay to other candidates, supporters: Let's stop exchanging hurtful words
Former Vice President and senatorial aspirant Jejomar Binay on Monday, April 25, urged other candidates and their supporters to adopt a more positive tone as the May 2022 elections draw near.
“Hiling ko lang ay itigil na ang palitan ng mapanirang salita sa nalalabing araw ng kampanya. Hindi pa huli para gawin nating positibo ang tono ng ating pangangampanya (I wish that we will stop exchanging hurtful words in the final days of the campaign. It isn't too late to change to a more positive tone)," Binay said.
Binay, who is running for senator under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), said the focus should be on what needs to be done to help the sectors affected by the pandemic.
“The coming years will not be easy, and it is important that we never lose our focus on what needs to be done to improve the lives of our countrymen who have been displaced by the pandemic,” he said.
“Partisan politics should take a backseat to the urgent task of rebuilding the country. We need to work together after the elections, but we cannot do that if the atmosphere has been poisoned by malice and animosity,” he added.
The former vice president explained that the heated political exchanges, both in public and in social media, have reached a point where even family members are being maligned and a lot more people are being affected by it.
According to a recent OCTA Research pre-election survey released on April 17, Binay ranks 7th-11th among all senatoriables. Binay shared the 7th-11th rank with former Senator Jinggoy Estrada.
