Scattered rains over E. Visayas, Caraga, Davao due to ITCZ; fair weather across rest of PH

The intertropical convergence zone, a region where winds coming from the northeast and southeast converge that triggers thunderstorms and rain showers, will affect Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, April 24.
PAGASA advised those affected by the ITCZ to stay vigilant as moderate to heavy rains from this weather system may trigger flash floods or landslides.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.
PAGASA also warned the public against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorm activities.
Moreover, weather specialist Benison Estareja said that a low pressure area (LPA) may develop east of Mindanao by Monday, April 25, and enter the Philippine area of responsibility by Tuesday, April 26.
He said the LPA may bring “frequent” rains over several parts of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao as early as Tuesday.
Estareja advised residents and travelers to these areas to be alert to the hazards associated with this possible weather disturbance.
