LGUs urged to set aside campaigns, prioritize Covid-19 vaccinations
National Task Force (NTF) against Covid-19 special adviser Dr. Teodoro “Ted” Herbosa, on Sunday, April 24, urged local government units (LGUs) across the country to “set aside” campaigns for the upcoming May 2022 polls and prioritize Covid-19 vaccinations.

“Meron na tayong iilang mga lokal na pamahalaan na nag-umpisa na nitong house-to-house . ‘Yan ang sama ng loob ng NTF, mukhang ‘yung mga LGUs ay nagco-concentrate sa kampanya. Isantabi natin ‘yon at siguraduhin na maimplement at maitaas ang antas ng mga binabakunahan (We already have few LGUs that already have started these house-to-house vaccinations. That’s the resentment of the NTF because it looks like that other LGUs are concentrating more on the campaign. Let us put that aside and make sure that the vaccinations are raised),” said Herbosa in an interview over DZRH.
Before the campaign, the country was able to administer half a million to 1 million doses per day throughout the Philippines. The number has dropped to a little over 200,000 now that the campaigns have begun, said Herbosa.
Meanwhile, the expert thanked LGUs who have been implementing various programs in order to encourage Filipinos to get vaccinated and at the same time reach those who are in geographically-isolated areas.
The Department of Health’s (DOH) National Covid-19 Vaccination Dashboard showed that as of April 18, only 12,970,445 individuals have so far been boosted against the disease while 66,990,999 Filipinos have already completed their primary dose.
