"We also express our personal and individual support to the Buhay Party List, which primarily represents our beliefs to God, the importance of life and family," the group said in a statement released Sunday, April 24.

"And because there are many other options, we ask our fellow Laiko to carefully weigh the choice of Party-lists that also truly promote the upliftment of the lives of our countrymen, especially the workers, with disabilities, and the poor," it further read.

In February, Laiko also expressed their support for presidential candidate Vice President Leni Robredo.

"With our current political-economic turmoil and the pandemic situation in the Philippines, we firmly believe that Vice President Leni Robredo, a God-fearing person, is the most capable candidate for the Presidency, and we urge our constituents, if possible, to consider the same," said LAIKO President Raymond Dakiel Cruz Jr. in a statement.

"Hence, we explicitly endorse Vice President Leni Robredo to the highest position of our land," he added.

Cruz said though there are still other issues, which need further dialogue and cooperation, they are of the opinion that Robredo, based on her track record of service, dedication to good governance, ability to implement partnerships and programs for the advancement of the people, especially the marginalized and her unassailable integrity, bested the others.

Meanwhile, at least 50 priests from the Diocese of Kalookan also declared their support for Robredo, and her running mate Senator Kiko Pangilinan.

"After a thorough process of prayer and discernment, we declare, with our whole and sincere heart, our support for the candidacy of VP Leni Robredo as President and Sen. Kiko Pangilinan as Vice-President. We have seen the competence, capabilities and good characters of VP Leni and Sem. Kiko that will render a government which genuinely serves the nation, cares for the poor and treasures genuine democracy," read their statement.
