The new Korean drama “Sh**ting Stars” (“Shooting Stars”) premiered on cable channel tvN on April 22 and 23.
Starring Lee Sung-kyung and Kim Young-dae, “Sh**ting Stars” tells the story of people in the entertainment industry.



Lee Sung-kyung plays the role of Oh Han-byul, the head of the PR team at an entertainment agency, while Kim Young-dae is Gong Tae-sung, a top star who is her natural enemy. They always bicker but soon develop feelings for each other. It also stars Yoon Jong-hoon, Kim Yoon-hye, Lee Jung-shin and Park So-jin.
Korean stars will appear in cameo roles including Park Jung-min, Song Ji-hyo, Lee Sang-woo, Kim Seul-gi, Lee Ki-woo, Kang Ki-dong, Oh Eui-sik, Chae Jong-hyeop, Moon Ga-young, Kim Dong-wook and Seo Yi-sook.
According to Nielsen Korea, the first episode of “Sh**ting Stars” got a nationwide rating of 1.632 percent to place third among cable TV shows. It was watched by 408,000 people.
In the Seoul metropolitan area, “Sh**ting Stars” received 1.676 percent (third place) and was watched by 178,000 people.
The second episode on April 23 got a nationwide rating of 1.792 percent to place seventh. It was watched by 434,000 people.
In the Seoul metropolitan area, the drama garnered a rating of 1.886 percent (sixth place). It was watched by 208,000 people.
During the press conference for “Sh**ting Stars,” Lee Sung-kyung said, "When I first read the script for 'Shooting Stars,' I felt that it was exploring the real stories of the entertainment industry. (The story) had realistic struggles and events of the industry that I could empathize with,” according to the Korea Times.
"I'm still very nervous and excited (to take the lead). I have had a lot of pressure since we started shooting the series," said Kim Young-dae.
He added, "Since I don't see myself as a top actor yet, it was hard to portray my character. I looked up different people (for reference). But I came to realize that I do have stars right by my side. Instead of looking up different people's works, I could study Sung-kyung as she is a top actress."
“Sh**ting Stars” airs every Friday and Saturday on tvN in South Korea, and every Saturday and Sunday at 9:15 p.m. on tvN express.
