VILLASIS, Pangasinan -- A fire believed to have been caused by an unattended candle razed a house at Zone 1, Brgy. Amamperez on Friday, April 21.
The charred body of Esperidion Pajarito Jr .59, owner of the house, was found inside his room.
The fire broke out at almost midnight and residents reported the incident to the police at around 6:30 in the morning.
As there was temporary power interruption in some parts of Pangasinan including the town of Villasis, the victim lit a candle before he slept.
The blaze, which broke out in the victim’s room, quickly spread throughout the house, trapping Pajarito inside, the investigators said.
Police authorities also learned that the victim is living alone in his house. Worse, the police also learned the victim was allegedly under the influence of liquor that night.
SOCO Team from Urdaneta City Forensic Unit led by Major Eric Magtaan was requested to process the crime scene as per request from BFP Villasis.
The cadaver of the victim now lies at Villasis Funeral Homes, Poblacion Zone 1, Villasis, Pangasinan for autopsy examination, police said.
