UniTeam senatorial candidate Mark Villar is among President Duterte’s top two Senate picks, the other being the former's fellow UniTeam Senate slate member Gibo Teodoro.
“Kung ang mga tao ngayon (If the people now) would find a comfortable road network and the quality of the road itself, tulungan ninyo si Villar kasi malaking tulong niya sa Pilipinas sa taong-bayan (help Villar because he will help the country)," Duterte bared during an airing of the President’s Chatroom on Wednesday, April 20 while interviewing former Department Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Villar.
Villar’s electoral platform mainly centers on continuing the Duterte administration's “Build, Build, Build” infrastructure modernization initiative.
Duterte said during the interview that he had previously promised Teodoro the first vote, leaving the second to Villar.
“Ngayon, sabihin ko sa inyo hindi ako nagsisi na talagang dapat maging isang Cabinet member (I’ll say now that I do not regret having you as a Cabinet member),” the President told Villar.
“Ako ay taos pusong nagpapasalamat sa patuloy na suporta ni Pangulong Duterte. Atin pong ipagpapatuloy ang magandang nasimulan ng administration na ito lalo na po ang ‘Build, Build, Build’ Program (I wholeheartedly thank Duterte for his support. We will continue what his administration started, especially through the ‘Build, Build, Build’ program,” Villar said in a press statement on Friday, April 22.
The UniTeam is led by presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
Mayor Duterte is the daughter of the incumbent President.
