Robredo invites supporters to grand rally as she celebrates birthday; 'open to all!'

Aspiring president Vice President Leni Robredo will celebrate a birthday bash that will be "open to all."

Robredo is expected to celebrate her 57th birthday at a grand rally in Pasay City on Saturday, April 23. Since early March, her campaign rallies have been drawing massive crowds such as those held in Cavite, Cabanatuan City, Bacolod City, San Fernando, Pampanga, and Mandaue City, Cebu.

It was not intentional, Robredo said during a Facebook live Friday afternoon. It only happened to be scheduled on her birthday, she said.

She then took the chance to invite her supporters to go and join her in the rally , saying "it is open to all."

“Ini-invite po natin ang lahat (We are inviting everyone) for the grand rally tomorrow. ero yung rally pong ito (But this rally is) intended for all the cities sa (in the) south including Makati, Las Piñas, Parañaque, Muntinlupa. Parang ito yung focus ng iimbitihan, pero siyempre open sa lahat (It is like these are the focus of invitation but of course, it is open to all,” Robredo said.

The festivities will begin with an “art jam” along Macapagal Avenue, which urges attendees to wear colors symbolizing their dreams for the country.

The Robredo People’s Council encouraged supporters on Facebook to wear white for health, yellow for education, blue for jobs, red for food, and pink for “pag-angat sa buhay” on the day.

It was disclosed that the grand people’s rally is designed to be a “street party” with various artists and celebrities entertaining the crowd. Watch parties for those unable to physically attend the event will be done nationwide.

Prior to the expected huge celebration, an intimate one is also slated in the morning— a nationwide house-to-house campaign.

It is an intimate style of campaigning, where supporters and volunteers on the ground knock on doors, connecting with more voters through personal conversations in the run up to the May 9 presidential elections. It is described as “tao-sa-tao, puso-sa-puso” (people to people, heart to heart).

During her live stream, Robredo also encouraged volunteers to spend the remaining campaign days going house-to-house, as this is the most effective way to fight fake news.

Supporters dubbed the whole-day event as “Araw Na10 ‘To!”
