Rain showers, thunderstorms seen in parts of PH this weekend — PAGASA

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Eastern Visayas and Mindanao may experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours because of the oscillation of the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).
In its weekly weather outlook released on Friday, April 22, PAGASA said the rest of the country will also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with afternoon isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
By Sunday until Monday, April 24-25, PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Meanwhile, rains will become widespread over Northern Mindanao and Visayas due to the formation of a low pressure area (LPA) along the ITCZ—a region where winds coming from the northeast and southeast converge, triggering thunderstorms and rain showers.
PAGASA said the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
By Tuesday until Wednesday, April 26-27, PAGASA said Northern Mindanao and Visayas may experience frequent rains, as the LPA may develop into a tropical depression.
Luzon, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated afternoon or evening rain showers and thunderstorms.
By Thursday and Friday, April 28 and 29, PAGASA said Palawan may experience frequent rains as the tropical depression may intensify into a tropical storm.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will be cloudy with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
The rest of Luzon will have fair weather condition apart from isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
“Throughout the outlook period (April 22-29), updates through weather advisories will be issued if there will be significant changes in the weather scenario,” PAGASA said.
Two tropical cyclones have so far entered or formed inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) this month. These were Agaton and Basyang.
Based on the PAGASA’s set of tropical cyclone names for 2022, the next tropical cyclone that will enter or form inside the PAR will be named “Caloy.”
