'I'll have to follow my heart and my conscience': Cebu town mayor goes for Leni

Dumanjug, Cebu Mayor Gungun Gica ​has defied his governor, Gwen Garcia, as well as his party's endorsement for the president by backing presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo.

​In a statement on his Facebook account, Gica​ said: ​"I ​will have to follow my heart and my conscience​​ that is why I'm going to support LENI​."

Despite this, the mayor said, he admires and respects Garcia, who heads the ruling party One Cebu and endorsed Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. for the president, because "she is the best ​governor​."​

​"As​ your mayor ​I​ will respect your choice if you will vote for BBM​," he said.

​"​And if dili pud ko mag LENI Edisown sad ko sa ako mama​ (But if I don't go for Leni, my mom would disown me)," he added.
