The nominations for outstanding barangay and community public servants for the upcoming 21st Gawad Galing Barangay (GGB) in the province of Bulacan are now officially on.
Provincial Public Affairs Office (PPAO) chief Maricel Santos-Cruz said GGB is a project under the Bulacan Awards Program for Barangay Innovation and Excellence (BAPBIE) which was launched by the Provincial Government of Bulacan in accordance with Provincial Ordinance 03-T’06 in recognition of excellent contributions of barangays in the province’s development.
Cruz said that included in this yearly awards program are the selection and awarding of outstanding barangay initiatives from these three categories: Outstanding Barangay Projects; Outstanding ‘Lingkod Barangay’ including the Barangay Captain, Barangay Councilor, Barangay Secretary, and Barangay Treasurer; and Outstanding Volunteer Workers including the Barangay Tanod, Mother Leader, Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon, Barangay Health Worker, Barangay Training and Employment Coordinator and Volunteer Group that could be Non-Government Organization, People’s Organization, and Civic Organization among others.
Governor Daniel R. Fernando encourages the 569 barangays in the province, including those who have previously won in GGB, to still participate.
“Bagaman pinakamaliit na yunit ng pamayanan ang mga barangay, hindi po natin matatawaran ang malaking kontribusyon ng mga makabuluhang program na isinasakatuparan sa lalong ikauunlad ng lalawigan. Bunsod nito, umaasa po ako na lahat ng ating mga barangay ay makikiisa sa gawaing ito,” (Although the barangay is the smallest unit in the community, its significant contribution to the development of the province cannot be discounted. Through this, I'm hoping that all barangays will participate in this exercise)," Fernando said.
The winners will receive a plaque of recognition and financial incentive amounting to P200,000 each for the five Natatanging Gawaing Pambarangay; P50,000 for Natatanging Punong Barangay and P20,000 each for the Natatanging Kagawad ng Barangay, Natatanging Kalihim and Ingat-Yaman ng Barangay and Natatanging Volunteer Workers and Group.
Nominations will be accepted until May 23, 2022. For more information and queries on filling out the nomination form in each category, please call the Provincial Planning Development Office (PPDO) at (044) 791 8176.
