Meralco held a practice session Wednesday, April 20 after Game 6 of the PBA Governors’ Cup Finals was postponed due to a fire inside the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Bolts were supposed to play Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, but the league decided to call it off due to an incident that happened a few hours before the scheduled 6 p.m. tipoff.

Coach Norman Black said the additional lull will allow his team to prepare more going into the series resumption on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena, with the Bolts, down 3-2 in the series, looking to force a deciding Game 7.

“It’s out of our control so we will just adjust and get ready for the game on Friday at MOA. We did push through with our practice kanina,” Black said in a text message.

Some Meralco personnel were already at the Big Dome for the Grand Finals of the PBA 3x3 second conference when the fire broke out.

Among them was assistant coach Ronnie Magsanoc, who was calling the game on television aside from helping oversee the competition as 3x3 program director for the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.
