A different Kathniel will be seen in '2 Good 2 Be True'

Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla

It's been more than 10 years since the top loveteam of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla first bonded together in "Growing Up." Fans are now staging the countdown for "2 Good 2 Be True" - the comebacking couple's romantic comedy series that's set to once again capture the hearts of their followers worldwide.

Kathniel is staging their resurrection in no ordinary way as "2 Good 2 Be True" will first be streamed via Netflix on May 13. After 72 hours (or three days), 2G2BT will be shown on free/pay TV.

In an exclusive mediacon, Kathryn said she and Daniel are very grateful to be given the chance to reach a wider audience with ABS-CBN's collaboration with Netflix.

Daniel added that fans can definitely expect something new in "2 Good 2 be True." He said the story line is different and the characters are distinct from what he and Kathryn have portrayed before.

"Maraming dapat abangan na bago. Iba ang kwento dito sa 2 Good 2 Be true, iba rin ang characters namin dito ni Kathryn," the actor stated.

In their latest series, Daniel is an artist named Eloy while Kathryn is Ali, a nurse. By some circumstance, they find a way into each other's arms. Doubts creep in as they get to know each other more but soon realize that they really are connected and nurturing feelings of love are inescapable and unavoidable.

The Phenomenal Box Office Couple said 2 Good 2 Be True has many firsts for them. Aside from the tie-up with Netflix, it's also their first time to work with director Mae Cruz Alviar for a streaming series. It will be recalled that Alviar directed some of Kathniel's biggest box office hits such as "Crazy Beautiful You" and "Can't Help Falling in Love."

The overall plot of "Too Good.." is being kept under wraps. However, director Alviar describes the rom-com as having "feel good" elements interspersed with drama that will surely make one reach for a box of tissues.

Kathryn said maintaining the "kilig" factor that Kathniel is known for was a challenge, but they left it to their director who knows best.

"Ït's not just a love story, Very relevant ang story. Maraming mata-tackle na hindi natin alam na nangyayari sa ibang tao. We had no reason to say no to this project. It's really worth doing. We are grateful to share this beautiful project with everyone," the actress revealed.

Director Alviar recalled that Kathniel were only teenagers when she first handled them. She was candid in saying that the reel- and real-life couple have definitely evolved with their craft and as persons.

"They remain unfazed by proportions of their popularity and prestige as a loveteam. They're the same Kath and DJ from before . The only difference is that they have a wealth of experience. Iba na sila tumingin sa kwento, iba na sila tumingin sa characters, iba na ang sensibilities nila now. They have matured and grown wiser with more experience as actors," Alvar declared.
