UP Diliman sets class activities guidelines for face-to-face classes

In preparation for the reopening of face-to-face classes, the University of the Philippines Diliman (UPD) has released the guidelines for class activities under different alert levels.

The guidelines outlined the activities during face-to-face classes for students and faculty such as mode of teaching; access to classrooms, laboratories, and studios; access to libraries; off-campus activities; examinations like qualifying tests, comprehensive exams, and finals; and faculty-student and/or adviser-advisee consultations.

The released guidelines noted that the mode of teaching during Alert Levels 1, 2, and 3 should be remote/limited face-to-face for authorized students. For Alert Level 4 or 5, the mode of teaching is strictly remote.

When it comes to access to classrooms, laboratories, and studios, only authorized students will be allowed to enter these facilities under Alert Levels 1, 2, and 3.

UP Diliman said that access to classrooms, laboratories and studios will not be allowed under Alert Level 4 or 5.

Meanwhile, only “compliant students” will be allowed to have access to libraries under Alert Level 1 while “authorized students” will only be allowed under Alert Level 2.

Access to libraries will not be allowed under Alert Level 4 or 5.

Only authorized students will be allowed to participate in off-campus activities under Alert Levels 1, 2, and 3. Off-campus activities are prohibited under Alert Level 4 or 5.

UP Diliman noted that qualifying and comprehensive exams and finals can be taken by authorized students under Alert Levels 1, 2, and 3.

Face-to-face exams are not allowed under Alert Level 4 or 5.

Moreover, consultations such as faculty-student and/or adviser-advisee are allowed for “compliant students” under Alert Levels 1, 2, and 3.

This is not allowed when Alert Levels 4 or 5 have been declared.

“Authorized students” are those who are included in the list of students submitted by a unit for its application for limited face-to-face classes “Compliant students” are those who are fully vaccinated and have health insurance (or are members of PhilHealth).

UP Diliman noted that these guidelines are adopted, with modifications, from the plans and preparations of UP Los Banos for the reopening of face-to-face classes.
