Sara condemns attack on Ka Leody's sortie

BATANGAS CITY, Batangas--Vice presidential candidate Sara Duterte has joined those who are condemning the apparent attack on the sortie of presidential bet-slash labor leader Leodegario “Ka Leody” de Guzman in Bukidnon on Tuesday, April 19.

In an ambush interview following a speaking engagement here Wednesday, April 20, UniTeam member Duterte was asked to comment on the shooting at the Bukidnon sortie, which led to the wounding of several people.

"Of course lahat ng (all forms of) election violence and allegations of fraud, we condemn that," the lady mayor said.

"And we already wrote the Comelec (Commission on Elections) of a general letter that if there is any allegation or incident, dapat lahat yun buksan nila (all of those must be looked at) with an official inquiry coming from Comelec," added Duterte.

Duterte is the running mate of presidential candidate and fellow UniTeam member Bongbong Marcos. On the other hand, De Guzman's running mate is former congressman Walden Bello.

There's no love lost between Bello and Duterte's old regional party, the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP). It was last March during a vice presidential debate organized by the Comelec when Bello claimed that there was rampant corruption in Davao City, which he branded as the center of illegal drugs in the south.

He even insinuated that a Duterte family member was involved in the illegal drug trade.

In response to these remarks, HNP Secretary General Anthony del Rosario branded Bello a "narcopolitician" and prodded local government units (LGUs) in the Davao region to declare the May 9, 2022 poll aspirant as a “persona non-grata” or an unwelcome person.

Duterte now chairs the national party Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD).
