Clothes, accessories with names, faces of bets not allowed at polling precincts, says Comelec

Wearing clothes and accessories with the names and faces of candidates is not allowed when voting at polling precincts as it will be classified as campaigning.

This was according to Commission on Elections (Comelec) Commissioner George Erwin M. Garcia.

According to him, people wearing clothes and accessories with names and faces of candidates may be asked to leave the premises of the polling precinct.

“Campaigning po ‘yun kaya bawal (That’s campaigning and that is why it is prohibited),” Garcia said.

“Iwasan po natin ito (Let’s avoid this practice),” he added.

But, he clarified that any color of clothes is allowed so long as they do not have the faces and names of candidates.

“Iyon pong kulay lang wala po problema dahil iyan ay kanilang karapatan (Any color of clothes is allowed because that is their right),” the poll commissioner said.
