The Antipolo City local government distributed livelihood packages to its indigent residents as it continuously creates programs and platforms to assist them amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
One of the city's beneficiaries is 46-years old Vilma Cadiz of Barangay San Jose.
According to Antipolo City Mayor Andeng Ynares, Cadiz's husband stopped working after being involved in an accident, making her the bread winner of their family that includes six children.
Pag madami ang benta, karaniwang kumikita lamang siya ng P200 hanggang P300 buong maghapon (Vilma has no choice but to use 5/6 just to have capital for selling biscuits and vegetables. In days when her sale is good, her average earning is only around P200 to P300 for the whole day)," Ynares said.
This small income is not enough for their food and other necessities. They usually just eat rice with Magic Sarap. But despite this, Vilma has the qualities that each Antipolenyo should have: Persevarance, determination, and faith in God)," she added.
Cadiz received from the LGU a Pangkabuhayan Sari-Sari Store and Bigasan Package which includes three sacks of rice, instant noodles, canned goods, condiments, biscuits, coffee, milk, chips, candies, sugar, salt, soap, shampoo, toothpastes, fabric detergents, fabric conditioners, dish-washing liquid, laundry detergents, as well as a weighing scale and sando bags.
We salute you Vilma and we believe that you deserve to have a fresh start. This story is testament that the Lord is always here with us and that he will never forsake us)," Ynares said.
On April 9, the LGU also distributed Nego Karts to its citizens adversely affected by the pandemic.
As of April 19, the city recorded only three active Covid-19 cases. It also tallied 22,921 recoveries and 514 deaths.
