Team Secret, Oasis Gaming keep upper bracket spots in WCS PH playoffs

Team Secret and Oasis Gaming kept their upper bracket spots after prevailing in their respective quarterfinal matches in the WCS Philippines playoffs on Friday, April 1.

Team Secret scored a 3-1 victory over RRQ Philippines and will take on top seed Team UNDRGRND, while Oasis, which also had a 3-1 beating of Grindsky Esports, will advance to the upper bracket semis against Fennel Adversity.

TS drew the series’ first blood with a 14-6 win in Game 1. RRQ came back roaring in Game 2 as Sean "Helios" Palisoc completed a back door play to score the equalizer, 14-11. That, however, hardly bothered the Horizon Cup fourth placers as it secured the next two games 24-8 in Game 3 and 16-5 in Game 4.

It was the same story in the other pairing as Oasis dominated Grindsky, 25-6 in the series opener. The team followed it up with a 21-6 triumph in Game 2 but Grindsky managed to hold its ground in Game 3, squeezing a 22-15 win.

Oasis though slammed the door on Grindsky comeback hopes in Game 4 as it scored a 19-12 victory to win the series and advance to the next round.

RRQ and Grindsky got dropped to the lower bracket and will have to wait the losers in the upper bracket semis which will happen on Saturday, April 2.
