Students prefer Leni-Kiko, university poll surveys show


The tandem of Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Kiko Pangilinan was the preferred pick by students for the top positions in the Philippines according to mock election surveys released on Saturday, April 2, by student governments of top private universities in the country.

Poll surveys conducted by Sanggunian ng mga Mag-aaral ng mga Paaralang Loyal of the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU) showed that students preferred the Leni-Kiko tandem to lead the nation in the 2022 elections.

Of the 3,343 respondents from the undergraduate and graduate students of AdMU in the National Capital Region, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, 3,197 picked Robredo as their presidential bet and 2,909 picked Pangilinan as their vice presidential bet.

Far Eastern University (FEU) Central Student Organization, the student council of FEU Manila released the results of Pulso ng Tamaraw.

The mock poll recorded 7,345 votes from registered students, with Robredo garnering 6,618 votes and his running mate Pangilinan garnering 5,916 votes.

Meanwhile, in the Pulso ng Diliman mock poll, Robredo tallied 95.4 percent votes from University of the Philippines Diliman students, while Pangilinan tallied 84.4 percent.

Preferences for the senator position were consistently dominated by 1Sambayan bets, Senator Risa Hontiveros, Leila de Lima, Neri Colmenares, Teddy Baguilat, Antonio Trillanes, Atty. Sonny Matula, Alex Lacson, Richard Gordon, Elmer Labog, and Atty. Luke Espiritu of Partido Lakas ng Masa, with Atty. Chel Diono at the lead in each poll survey.

Makabayan bloc partylists led the partylist preferences in each survey, with Kabataan Partylist emerging as the top preference.
