Vince Rillon wins first-ever acting plum in Rome

Vince Rillon has leveled up.

Although known mostly for repeated appearances in so-called bold films, Vince has finally proven he is more than just the usual "hubadero" recently, earning a best actor plum at the 19th Asian Film Festival in Rome, Italy.

The recognition was for his performance in his mentor Brillante Mendoza's "Resbak," in which he plays a young thief going up against a crime syndicate.

Vince expressed joy for the win in a social media post.

He wrote, "Thank you very much, Lord, and I will improve even more in everything I do in the industry."

Asked in a recent digital interview if he will now shy away from doing risque roles, Vince retorted, "Hindi naman. Kahit anong work ibigay sa akin tatanggapin ko pa rin. Blessing 'yan e. IN fact, mas lalo akong ginanahan tumanggap ng trabaho dahil sa award ko."

Brillante was also honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Roma Lazio Film Commission.

The festival was held from April 6-13.

It showcased 30 feature films from China, South Korea, Philippines, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand.

Aside from "Resbak," it also featured the works of Erik Matti ("On the Job") and Daniel Palacio ("The Brokers").
