As she learns to master a variety of dishes as a first-time cook, Sarah Geronimo said that having a gas stove has been really helpful.

“You can prepare your favorite meals while saving on costs,” the Hanabishi Appliances brand ambassador said.

This is why for her, keeping them clean is important.

“Para maayos kayong makapagluto at lalo pang tumagal ang inyong gas stove (So you can cook properly and your gas stove will prolong its life),” Sarah said.

The Popstar royalty, together with Hanabishi, came up with these easy how-to in keeping your gas stoves clean.

Pay attention and immediately wipe off spills and overflows.

“As soon as boiling liquids spill over from your cooking pan, wipe them away with a clean sponge diluted in dish-washing liquid,” Sarah recommended.

That way, you’ll prevent stains from setting in and won’t take as much time to clean afterward. For stubborn stains, try spraying the surface with water & vinegar and wipe away with a non-abrasive sponge.

Keep an eye on the burners and check if they are clogged, in order to prevent it from turning into a fire hazard.

“Always check before, during and after cooking to see if the burners need to be cleaned,” Sarah said.

To unclog the burner, spray it with water and liquid detergent, let it soak for 15 to 20 minutes, and scrub with a small brush.  Similarly, soak the stove grates in soapy water for the same amount of time, and clean with a brush or sponge as needed. Make sure that the burners and stove grates are completely dry before returning them to their proper places.

Check the back panels and knobs regularly.

“Check if they’re clean and working properly, so you can prevent accidents from happening,” Sarah said.

You can clean the back panels and knobs with a sponge and dish-washing soap or vinegar solution.

Spending a few minutes everyday to keep your gas stove clean is one way to avoid the hassle of spending more time and energy for deep cleaning.

“Don’t wait for your gas stove to get too dirty. You don’t want to cook meals for your loved ones in a dirty stove. At pinakaimportante, mas ligtas ka sa aksidente at maayos ang iyong pagluluto (More importantly, you’ll be safer from accidents and properly cook),” Sarah pointed out.
