Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez said the new 15 active cases of Covid-19 recorded in Barangay Tambo are all Chinese nationals and working in the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) industry.
Olivarez said the POGO workers were immediately brought to the city’s isolation facility for treatment. The positive cases are all asymptomatic and fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
The City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) recorded on April 18 a total of 17 new cases, bringing the total to 18 active cases.
The mayor said 13 communities in the city already recorded zero cases of Covid-19.
Olivarez said aside from Barangay Tambo with 15 new active cases of Covid-19, BF Homes and San Martin de Porres both recorded with one case each and an unidentified barangay with one.
He said the city government is continuing to conduct Covid-19 intervention through massive Prevent, Detect, Isolation, Treat, Reintegration (PDITR).
The mayor asked residents to continue to follow basic health protocols especially that there is a threat of a possible surge in Covid-19 cases by mid-May.
