‘It is inclusive and, most of all, it is born out of love’
It is hard to turn a blind eye to the things that are happening in the world today. With all the noise we hear from our comeback to the real world, the national election, and the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, what we all need now is a moment of peace. Dubai-based fashion designer Michael Cinco aimed to bring just that through a style presentation shown at the Los Angeles Fashion Week 2022.

Michael’s vision of fashion fantasy continued with his collection dubbed “The Impalpable Dream of Peace,” a line filled with immaculate white designs and show-stopping finale pieces that definitely took everyone’s breath away during the show.
“The collection is a timely celebration of all that we strive to be amid these chaotic times,” Michael told Manila Bulletin Lifestyle. “It is akin to the release of white doves that signify peace, love, and new beginnings. It transcends cultures and traditions. It is inclusive and, most of all, it is born out of love.”
With the song “Imagine” in his mind during the design process, Michael shifted gears by designing pieces that are more prêt-à-porter yet without losing his dramatic aesthetic. Opulence was present on the runway with his billowing subtle organza gowns and kaftans decorated with romantic floral prints. Elegance merged with contemporary with his take on short dresses paired with beaded coats and leather bomber jackets. While lace and tulle evening wear with subtle embroideries and men’s pieces in alpaca wool, corduroy, leather, and graphic illustrations completed his white parade. “It was definitely like a breath of fresh air from what I usually show on the runway,” the designer said.
What came after the heavenly presentation was something truly spectacular. Keeping up with the idea of peace and love, Michael literally lit up LAFW with his luminescent ball gowns mimicking the aurora borealis in Iceland.
“I am always in awe of this magical phenomenon,” Michael mused. “I've been chasing Northern Lights for seven years now. The beauty of it gives me calmness and serenity. It is akin to the release of all our stress and worries and inspires love and new beginnings.”
To make the pieces come to life, Michael commissioned two artists to paint his visions onto the dresses. According to him, it took them two weeks to finish. But to truly achieve the glowing effect., they have to add more neon paint on the dress three hours prior to the show.
“I just want to bring peace to the world and this collection is simply perfect for these troubling times, and a welcome sight after the world’s pandemic troubles,” the designer said. “It has a calming effect and it somehow signifies hope for a better future.”
