Operatives of the Northern Police District (NPD) arrested a man for brandishing a gun while walking along a street, frightening the residents in Barangay 64, Caloocan City on Tuesday afternoon, April 19.
Lt. Col. Jay Dimaandal, NPD Special Operations Unit (DSOU), identified the suspect as Arnel Quiambao, 51.
Dimaandal said that a concerned citizen asked for their help after a gun-wielding man wearing a yellow shirt and brown shorts was seen walking along M. Hizon Street in Brgy. 64 at around 1 p.m. on Tuesday.
He added that the suspect pointed the gun at the residents, which prompted them to run away.
Responding officers of the DSOU immediately approached Quiambao who voluntarily surrendered a .38-caliber revolver and five live ammunition.
Dimaandal said that Quiambao carried the gun in public with no specific intention.
Police said Quiambao was brought to the DSOU office and will be charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, and violation of the election gun ban.
