Devotees commemorate Tuesday, April 19, the Feast of Saint Expeditus (Saint Expedite), the patron saint of urgent matters and against procrastination.

In the country, special masses are traditionally held at the Saint Andrew Cathedral in La Huerta, Parañaque City, which are attended by devotees particularly those who have experienced healing by invoking his intercession.

Now in its 28th year, the Society of St. Expeditus organizes activities at the cathedral every year in celebration of his feast day including a healing mass in honor of the Greek martyr. Devotees who had experienced healing through the intercession of the miraculous saint usually share their stories of physical and spiritual healing.

Often invoked against lawsuits, procrastination and for urgent cases, there are no precise details on the life of St. Expeditus, except for a little information on him in the martyrologies, a catalog or list of martyrs. It was believed that he lived in the fourth century. He was a Roman soldier that was why most images of the saint show him dressed like a soldier. He was believed to have died a martyr for converting to Christianity on April 19, 303 in Melitene, now Malatya in Turkey.
