Former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and his running mate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, are leading the presidential and vice presidential races in Metro Manila, as shown in the latest Pahayag National Capital Region (NCR) tracker survey conducted by PUBLiCUS.

Around 51 percent of the 1,625 Metro Manila residents who took part in the April 8-13, 2022 survey chose Marcos as their bet for president.

Meanwhile, 24.3 percent of the respondents said they would vote for Vice President Ma. Leonor “Leni” Robredo, and 9.8 percent chose Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso.

For vice president, 51.3 percent of the respondents chose Duterte-Carpio as their vice presidential bet.

Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan (15.4 percent), Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III (11.6 percent), and Dr. Willie Ong (11.4 percent) found themselves in a statistical tie for second place.

Leni, Sara receive highest proportion of ‘firm’ voters

In the same survey period, PUBLiCUS noted that the vote firmness was markedly high in the presidential and vice presidential races, with most supporters of leading candidates reporting they would definitely or likely not change their respective votes.

Robredo registered the highest proportion of firm voters among presidential bets, with 87 percent of the 24.3 percent of respondents who chose her as their presidential bet saying their vote would definitely or likely not change.

Meanwhile, 86 percent among the 51.6 percent of respondents who chose Marcos said their vote would definitely or likely not change.

Sixty-eight percent of Moreno’s supporters were also tagged as firm voters.

Duterte-Carpio notched the highest firm voter share in the vice presidential race, with 90 percent of her supporters saying they would definitely or likely not change their vote.

Pangilinan, Sotto, and Ong notched firm voter shares of 84 percent, 77 percent, and 69 percent, respectively.

“The NCR vote firmness numbers appear to validate the general trend illustrated by our national data, which suggests that a large majority of registered voters are already dead-set on whom to vote for President and Vice President on May 9,” said PUBLiCUS executive director Aureli Sinsuat.

THe PAHAYAG NCR tracker survey is an independent and non-commissioned survey conducted by PUBLiCUS between April 8-13, 2022.

The 1,625 registered Filipino voters comprising the purposive survey panel, all residents of Metro Manila, were randomly selected from the panel marketplace maintained by the American firm PureSpectrum.
