Robredo campaign momentum not shaken by politicians' 'desperation', says Pangilinan
Aspiring vice president Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan said the momentum of Vice President Leni Robredo's presidential campaign going into the homestretch phase of the May elections will not be shaken by the "desperation" displayed by other politicians.

"Nasa atin na ang momentum. Nasa atin din ang taumbayan kaya na rin nagsisilipatan na o nagbabago na ang isip ng mas marami nating mga kababayan. Sa gitna nito ang desperasyon ng ilang pulitiko (The momentum is in our side. The people are also with us, causing many more to change their mind and shift sides. This is in the middle of other politicians' desperation),'' Pangilinan, Vice President Leni Robredo's runningmate, said shortly after the joint press conference of presidential candidates on Easter Sunday, April 17.
During the joint press conference held at the Manila Peninsula, presidential bets Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, Senator Panfilo Lacson, and former Defense Secretary Norberto Gonzalez collectively declared that they will not withdraw from the race.
Domagoso also made a separate call, urging Robredo to give up the fight after he bared that the latter's camp was making efforts in stripping him of his support groups.
It can be recalled that on April 12, Ikaw Muna (IM) Pilipinas, which has been supporting Domagoso, declared support for Robredo's bid.
Pangilinan refuted the claims saying "it is not VP Leni's style to manipulate politicians."
"Kung bubuksan lamang nila ang kanilang mga mata at pagmasdan nila nang husto ang mga pangyayari, makikita nila na ang lakas ng kampanya namin ni VP Leni ay nanggagaling sa puspusang pagkilos ng taumbayan at hindi sa mga maneobra ng mga pulitiko (If only they open their eyes and look intently at what's happening, they will see that the strength of our campaign comes from the movement of the people and not from manipulating politicians)," the lawmaker stressed.
Domagoso also said Robredo and her team are only running to fight fellow presidential candidate Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, the son of the late dictator.
Pangilinan also disputed this, saying that they will continue to focus on what the Filipinos need and they will not allow the "detraction" take away their focus.
The vice-presidential aspirant pointed out that what the other candidates are doing only sets Robredo apart from his competitors.
"Angat lalo si VP Leni sa mga katunggali," Pangilinan said, noting that Robredo does not only "talks on press con" but "instills hope in streets and anywhere that help is needed."
" ng taumbayan na ating pinaglilingkuran ang nagsasabing (the nation that we are serving are the ones saying that), the last man standing is a woman," Pangilinan said.
