Man beheaded due to jealousy in Negros town

BACOLOD CITY -- A man was beheaded by his drinking buddy due to jealousy at Sition Sangke, Barangay Bacuyangan, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental on Thursday.

Police identified the victim as Rene Caño, 34, of Barangay Bacuyangan.

Maj. John Ganzon, Hinoba-an town police chief, said that Caño and the suspect identified as Jerry Del Carmen, 26, of Barangay Bacuyangan were having a drinking session along with two others, when the suspect’s live-in partner reportedly told him that Caño was good-looking.

The live-in partner’s comment irked Del Carmen, who then hacked Caño when he was on his way home.

Ganzon said that Del Carmen’s live-in partner and Caño had no affair, but the suspect assumed that the victim had feelings for his live-in partner.

Police recovered a bolo used in the crime.

Ganzon said the suspect was arrested and is facing murder charges.
